Wiltshire FA Centre of Excellence
Congratulations are due to three of the DHUFC Girls who were selected for the Wiltshire FA Centre of Excellence. Saphri L and Lauren E from the Under-14s and Rhiann D from the Under-12s have been selected and have already represented the Wiltshire Centre of Excellence in a tournament held at Millfield School in Somerset last Wednesday.
This a a terrific honour for these girls. Approx 70 girls were given a trial in the u-14 section and about 20 have been selected, and in the under-12 section 15 out of 36 were selected. This is also a great honour for DHUFC as this is the first time any of our girls (or boys????) have been selected to represent the County. The selected players also benefit from weekly coaching sessions in Devizes on Monday evenings and will play more fixtures during the season.
Several other girls attended trials for 4 weeks in September/October and were unfortunate not to have been selected. But hopefully they will also have gained from the experience and resolve to try again next season (not forgetting that in all cases they were in the younger year of their 2-year age band and will gain another years experience before next season's selection trials).
I hope to get more definite/precise information from Wilts FA, communication on this subject has been non-existent so far.

Just to echo Jon's congratulations to all those girls that took part in the trials, and a big well done to those that were selected. It is indeed the first time our Club has had any representation at County level, well done.
Each of you need to maintain your focus and enthusiasm, and most importantly enjoy your training and keep fun in your game.
